Mid-September is a lovely time to be in Tuscany.

Tuscany through my eyes: Week 42

Now that my project about Tuscany over the seasons is over, I have decided to start a new project: Tuscany through my eyes. Well, more or less… I am planning on publishing one or more photos of Tuscany every week, and not just some beautiful photos, but images that “match” the way I see my beautiful region at that time of the year. I will publish photos that I have taken and photos that I have not taken but I wish I had! 52 posts to show you Tuscany the way I see it and feel it. Here are the other posts in the series.

Week 42 – Mid-September in Tuscany

This week, I am back at work, so it does feel like the summer holidays are officially over. Not the summer weather though, except for some exceptionally windy days.

The vineyards are really ready now. My family is going to start their harvest next week. I guess you will be seeing that through my eyes then!

The coast is starting to look like it looks in the early fall. I love this beautiful photo taken near Livorno by Paolo Avezzano. Scary but glorious sea!

The countryside is starting to assume more autumnal colors too, as this amazing shot by Jakub Bartkowiak shows.

Being in the cities is starting to be more pleasant too. Schools and universities are back in session and the cities are going back to their typical rhythms.

Mid-September is a lovely time to visit Tuscany. Remember to check our vacation rental near Siena and our holiday apartment in Pisa!

  1. Hi Gloria, my family are reading your blog, thank you. We are particularly interested in Tuscany at the moment as my daughter would like to get married there. We have been offered the week of June 13th or September 12th. We are trying to think which would be best. We know the weather will be warm at both times, but do you have a view being local, we would appreciate your advice, it is hard to know from the UK!

    • Hi! They are quite equivalent, I believe. Same chance of rain or heat wave. Maybe evenings in June are warmer than in September, but being that early, it might still be quite hot. Ergot married in June 🙂
