It feels great to finally have a website which we are not ashamed to show our friends and guests! But this is the life in the webmaster’s family: paying jobs must come first! Any feedback and suggestions for topics to include will be much appreciated, and if you spot any bugs or mistakes in your language, please let us know!

A new website at last!

casina di rosa

Long overdue, the new website for Casina di Rosa, our vacation house near Siena, is finally online. Of course it is not perfect, it’s not completely finished, but at least it is much better than the old one.

Besides the section dedicated to the house itself, which also includes a photo gallery with lots of photos of the house, the village, the surrounding area and possible activities and a section for last minute deals and special offers, the website has three other main sections which are definitely a “work in progress”. In an ideal world, in which we have much more time to dedicate to this project…, we would like to keep adding content which can be useful and interesting for our guests and for other visitors to Tuscany.

The second main section is called “Where we are in Southern Tuscany” and it is dedicated to the area in which our vacation rental is located. We introduce our village, Civitella Marittima, which is off the beaten path but in a great location for day trips and we added lots of photos so that people can see what it looks like around here. We also added sections dedicated to the main areas which can be visited using Casina di Rosa as a base: the Maremma, Siena, Val d’Orcia, Val di Merse, and the Crete Senesi. I still need to work on Chianti and Monte Amiata. They are on my list of things to do! In each section we tried to include suggestions for possible thematic itineraries, and other interesting resources such as this article on Palio di Siena. Much more still to write!

The third main section is called “Things to do around Tuscany“, well, at least our corner of it. We divided this section in four subsections: art and culture in Tuscany, which already includes a section about medieval castles in the area and will hopefully have other pages too, nature and sport in Tuscany, where we have already included information on biking, hot springs and lavender in the area, typical products of Tuscany, which includes information about local wine and olive oil, and courses in Tuscany, where we published information on some courses which, over the years, our guests have enjoyed taking in the area (Italian language courses, cooking classes, etc.).

The last main section is called “Plan your trip“, and it collects useful information for people who are organizing their next vacation in the area. For the moment it includes articles about what to expect if you choose to spend the main holidays in Tuscany (New Year’s Eve, Christmast, Easter, Valentine’s Day), what to expect if you rent a vacation rental, and other similar miscellaneous stuff. We are also developing an online bookshop, where we people can buy books about Tuscany.

We are very proud of our vacation review section, with plenty of verified reviews by our former guests, published on various reputable travel websites. We would like to thank them all once again! And we would love to add your photos to our gallery!

We have also a rich links section, with several thematic pages. If you have anything to recommend, please contact us!

We are aware that much work still needs to be done but it feels great to finally have a website which we are not ashamed to show our friends and guests! But this is the life in the webmaster’s family: paying jobs must come first! Any feedback and suggestions for topics to include will be much appreciated, and if you spot any bugs or mistakes in your language, please let us know!
